During my first year at college we were set a live project to design a floral wallpaper with an autumnal feel to it, by a local furnishings shop called Midday Interiors.
The photographs below show the journey I went through starting with my initial drawings, moodboards, experimenting with colourways to my final design board with an image of the finished wallpaper.
I drew a variety of flowers but the Delphinium really stood out to me so I decided to use this as the main motif for my wallpaper, incoporating some Forget-Me-Nots to balance the design.
After experimenting with autumnal colours I decided to use shades of brown for my wallpaper as it was a recurring colour found in my research and I felt they were very on-trend.
I feel this is a very successful first attempt at a hand printed wallpaper in a half drop repeat and I am very pleased with the outcome.
