About Me

My photo
Delicate designs with an illustrative edge - highly detailed surface pattern and illustration, inspired by life and created with love. Sarah Fleming is a graduate of Cleveland College of Art & Design, where she studied Textiles and Surface Design, specialising in design for the home furnishings and greetings market. Inspired by the detail and beautiful patterns found in nature and her surroundings, Sarah is motivated to achieve beautiful, highly informative observational drawings. She showed an interest in Art from a very early age and has developed a great passion for Textiles and Surface Design. This huge passion spurs her on to work extremely hard, full of enthusiasm to create new and exciting design ideas. Sarah has developed a detailed, tight drawing style which helps her to achieve her beautiful observational drawings. However, she is also able to work in a very sketchy, illustrative style too - showing her as a very versatile designer, capable of adapting where relevant to confidently produce designs for both the commercial and more niche markets. Printsource New York

A few photos from our college stand at Printsource New York.
All of the students work gained excellent feedback and some really successful networking has been done!
I myself have a couple of exciting leads to follow up on for once I have graduated which will be fantastic if all goes to plan. I will definitely keep you all updated on any developments.
Working on the stand was such a great opportunity; I loved hearing the positive feedback on our work, seeing what professionals were looking for and talking to different people. It has definitely given me more confidence as both a person and a designer, making me feel that little bit more prepared for life after CCAD.

Visit to New York: Empire State Building

Stunning views from the Empire State Building at night, well worth the hour long queue we waited in and the freezing cold weather we endured!
Some of the photos I took on my camera came out very blurry but these gave me an idea for some designs to play around with over the summer - always being inspired! But my trusty HTC camera phone saved the day with some beautiful photos like the ones below.

Visit to New York: Ground Zero & Battery Park

When I went to New York 5 years ago the land at Ground Zero was completely flat. Work had begun on the Freedom Tower but there was not much to see so I really wanted to go back this time around to see the developments.
As soon as we came out from the subway the size of the new buildings hits you straight away. I could not believe the change since I was last there but the feelings of sadness for those who lost their lives was definitely still there. I think that the 9/11 memorial is a great idea and a lovely place for people to visit and pay their respects.

Visit to New York: Central Park

Central Park was by far my favourite place in New York; the scenery was beautiful, it was lovely to relax in the quiet and get out of the hustle & bustle in the city.
The flowers and foliage looked gorgeous in the bright sunshine so I wanted to share a few of the photos I took, hope you like them!
