About Me

Delicate designs with an illustrative edge - highly detailed surface pattern and illustration, inspired by life and created with love. Sarah Fleming is a graduate of Cleveland College of Art & Design, where she studied Textiles and Surface Design, specialising in design for the home furnishings and greetings market. Inspired by the detail and beautiful patterns found in nature and her surroundings, Sarah is motivated to achieve beautiful, highly informative observational drawings. She showed an interest in Art from a very early age and has developed a great passion for Textiles and Surface Design. This huge passion spurs her on to work extremely hard, full of enthusiasm to create new and exciting design ideas. Sarah has developed a detailed, tight drawing style which helps her to achieve her beautiful observational drawings. However, she is also able to work in a very sketchy, illustrative style too - showing her as a very versatile designer, capable of adapting where relevant to confidently produce designs for both the commercial and more niche markets. Feature Friday - Decorque

For this week's 'Feature Friday', I am excited to be sharing the work of 'Decorque', a family-run business based in Oxfordshire.

Lesley Rudman Stevens not only owns and runs the business, but she also brings her surface pattern design experience and skill to the beautiful designs on the Decorque products.
Trained in fashion and textiles, Lesley creates designs with a fashion-oriented look for a wide range of home decorative items that Decorque produce, including placemats, coasters, art prints, greetings cards and tags.
Working alongside Lesley in the design field is Harriet Rudman Stevens. Harriet is a qualified graphic designer, works as a full-time window designer AND partners Aaron Hawkins to manage the look of Decorque online!

Overseeing the administration, logistics and distribution needs of the business is Christopher Stevens, bringing an all important wealth of experience in global e-commerce matters to the business.

What a talented, busy family! Now for the designs and products...

I instantly fell in love with everything on the Decorque website
I am a complete sucker for anything floral/butterfly/bird based so finding designs that combined all of these completely brought out the girly girl in me !

Both imagery and colour are equally stunning throughout all of their items, creating the most gorgeous, decorative designs that are so easy on the eye.

 Butterfly Tree A3 Art Print

I have found it completely impossible to choose a favourite to feature from the range of GORGEOUS art prints as each one is as equally beautiful and interesting as the next.
The Butterfly Tree print above layers combinations of florals and butterflies to create a delicate, feminine design which I just adore.
I can definitely see the fashion-oriented look translating into these designs and how they work across the full range of Decorque products, showing how versatile they are!

I was particularly intrigued by Decorque's range of cork placemats and coasters.
They all use the stunning designs typical of the Decorque style and are available in 3 different shapes - circular, rectangular and square.

The high-quality, sustainable cork used is long-lasting and heat resistant making them perfect for placemats and coasters. Chosen for their non-allergenic, easy-to-handle and tactile properties, they are safe and environmentally friendly.

Decorque is a fairly new company but I can see they will go from strength to strength due to their gorgeous designs and products, and I cannot wait to see how they develop!
