About Me

My photo
Delicate designs with an illustrative edge - highly detailed surface pattern and illustration, inspired by life and created with love. Sarah Fleming is a graduate of Cleveland College of Art & Design, where she studied Textiles and Surface Design, specialising in design for the home furnishings and greetings market. Inspired by the detail and beautiful patterns found in nature and her surroundings, Sarah is motivated to achieve beautiful, highly informative observational drawings. She showed an interest in Art from a very early age and has developed a great passion for Textiles and Surface Design. This huge passion spurs her on to work extremely hard, full of enthusiasm to create new and exciting design ideas. Sarah has developed a detailed, tight drawing style which helps her to achieve her beautiful observational drawings. However, she is also able to work in a very sketchy, illustrative style too - showing her as a very versatile designer, capable of adapting where relevant to confidently produce designs for both the commercial and more niche markets. Feature Friday - Rosie Simons

For my second Feature Friday this week, I would like to share with you the lovely work of graphic & surface designer, Rosie Simons.

Rosie is a Graphic Design graduate. Her style is clean and simple using fresh, bright colour palettes throughout all of her beautiful patterns.

I love flicking through my twitter feed and coming across updates on Rosie's design work.
Her patterns are always full of colour and interesting combinations of imagery.

I love the simplicity of these Christmas cards; the one colour background with tiny polka dots creates the perfect backdrop for the beautiful typography and festive imagery.

Rosie's talent for creating beautiful typography is one thing in particular that I love about her work.
Like the framed designs above - the simple block type combined with ditsy, feminine illustrations around it makes for such a lovely little print.
A perfect gift for a female family member or friend!

Again, Rosie's use of colour on these fabrics is fantastic!
My particular favourite has to be the feather print; I LOVE my shades of blue/turquoise so it was an instant winner with me anyway. However, I love how the cerise pink pops out against the grey base colour which works so fabulously with the accents of turquoise and teal.
These fabrics are available to purchase over on Spoonflower.

Rosie also sells products through Etsy and Society 6
